FEES, BILLING, AND HOURS
The fee for a 50 minute session is $125.00, and if you plan to use insurance, this is what will be billed to them, while the actual payment is a percentage that’s determined by your insurance plan. Extended sessions are billed at $150.00, but this doesn't change your our of pocket fees or co-pays. Typically I would ask that fees, co-pays and deductible balances be paid at the time of each appointment, unless other arrangements have been made. Payment can be made by check or cash. I currently do not accept any credit cards.
Insurance
I am a provider for Medicaid, Cigna, BCBS, MVP, Value Options, and AETNA. If you have some other insurance not listed here, you can contact your insurance company directly to see if I can take payment from them, depending on your benefit plan. Unfortunately until the federal laws change, therapists with my degree & licensure are unable to be Medicare providers. If you do not have insurance or would prefer not to use your insurance, we can discuss a sliding fee, or I can refer you to other providers who are in your insurance co. network.
I use electronic billing through a HIPAA compliant service and submit session charges within the same week of a session, with statements for deductibles or co-pays directly to clients once the insurance company processes submitted claims. If your insurance plan is more complicated (such as a secondary payor) I am able to use a professional medical biller who does all insurance and private bill processing: Claims Connection (Plattsburgh, NY).
No Surprises Act
As of January 1, 2022, under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and health care facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing of their ability, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services, to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges.
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
Hours and Online Scheduling
If you are seeking a first appointment as a new client, let's have a brief phone conversation first to make sure of schedule/availability and other potential issues. Currently I am in the office Monday through Thursday. The first available session time is at 10:00am and the last available session begins at 6:00pm. If seeking regular, recurring appointments, many prefer the same weekly or biweekly days/times and I will do my best to accommodate and arrange a consistent schedule of sessions that works for your needs. If you are an established client and would like to make an appointment, please go to my online scheduler by clicking on the link to schedule an appointment. This will take you to Acuity Scheduling (HIPAA compliant scheduling site) and direct you through each step to confirm the appointment time you have chosen, and will then send you e-mail reminders** to the address you've provided them, usually the day before the appointment.
Cancellation Policy
There is a 24 hour cancellation policy. If I am not notified of your inability to make a scheduled appointment 24 hours prior to the appointment, the full session fee will be billed directly to you (insurance companies cannot be billed for missed appointments).
** Not having received an e-mail reminder from Acuity Scheduling for whatever reason, will not waive this cancellation fee. The e-mail reminders are an additional perk of online scheduling, however, you are still responsible for managing your own time & appointments.
